Warren Buffett (Trades, Portfolio)'s Berkshire Hathaway has recently increased its investment in VeriSign (VRSN), a leading domain registration company. According to SEC filings, Berkshire invested $28.55 million over three trading days, acquiring an additional 143,424 shares, now holding approximately 13.7% of the company, valued at nearly $2.7 billion. Analysts believe Buffett sees long-term value in VeriSign, despite its recent stock performance lagging behind the S&P 500.
In another investment move, Berkshire Hathaway has increased its stake in Occidental Petroleum (OXY, Financial) by purchasing nearly 8.9 million shares for $405 million, raising its ownership to over 28%. This marks the first increase in six months. Berkshire also acquired shares in Sirius XM and VeriSign for smaller amounts, potentially directed by Buffett's investment deputies.
Despite market volatility, Buffett's strategic investments reflect confidence in the underlying value of these companies.
