The Starbucks Workers United union announced that strikes at Starbucks (SBUX, Financial) locations in the United States have expanded to over 300 stores, involving more than 5,000 workers. This action is set to conclude after a five-day period. The strike has grown as negotiations between Starbucks and the union have stalled over unresolved issues such as wages, staffing, and scheduling.
The union, which represents employees from 525 stores nationwide, reported that over 60 stores in major cities like New York, Los Angeles, Boston, and Seattle had already ceased operations. The strike is anticipated to be the largest ever in the history of the coffee chain. A barista from Oregon mentioned that these strikes are just an initial show of strength, indicating that more actions might follow.
