Rigetti Computing (RGTI, Financial) saw its stock surge over 27% to $11.97 following the launch of its new 84-qubit Ankaa-3 quantum system. This system features extensive hardware redesigns, enhancing its performance significantly. Key improvements include a novel cryogenic hardware design, a complete overhaul of the qubit circuit layout, precise qubit frequency targeting using alternating bias-assisted annealing, and flexible gate architectures with precise control.
Ankaa-3 has achieved a median qubit gate fidelity of 99.5% and is now available to partners via Rigetti's Quantum Cloud Services (QCS). It will be accessible on Amazon Braket and Microsoft Azure in the first quarter of 2025. Users can conduct extensive algorithm research using the high-fidelity, universal iSWAP gates with a median time of 72 nanoseconds. Faster, specialized fSim gates, with a median time of 56 nanoseconds, are beneficial for specific algorithms like random circuit sampling, as demonstrated on Google's Willow system.
