A recent report by the Chamber of Progress, a U.S. tech industry organization, highlights potential negative impacts of the European Union's Digital Markets Act on user experience in Europe. The legislation restricts companies like Google and Apple from integrating their own products into core platform services, such as Google Search, to promote their offerings.
The report suggests that Google's inability to seamlessly integrate its suite of products, including Google Maps, flights, and hotels, into search results could compel users to navigate multiple websites and apps, complicating otherwise simple tasks. This legislation is expected to make online navigation more cumbersome.
Several partners of the Chamber of Progress are reportedly among the companies targeted by the EU's Digital Markets Act.
