Raytheon Technologies (RTX, Financial), a leading aerospace and defense company, plans to increase its workforce in India by 1,000 employees, a 14% rise from the current 7,000. This expansion aims to support its global operations by hiring more engineers and data scientists.

The new hires will be distributed across various departments, including 300 engineers for aircraft engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney over the next 12-18 months, and 700 engineers for aviation supplier Collins Aerospace within the next three years.

Other global aerospace firms like Airbus (EADSY), Rolls-Royce (RYCEY), and Lockheed Martin (LMT) are also expanding their technical and engineering operations in India, known as Global Capability Centers (GCCs). The market size of India's GCCs is projected to grow from $64.6 billion in FY2024 to $99-105 billion by FY2030.

Collins Aerospace produces evacuation slides, cabin and pilot seats, and avionics sensors in India, with plans for a larger facility in Bangalore by 2026. Pratt & Whitney aims to conduct more technical work internally to retain talent and protect intellectual property.
