Oklo Inc., an advanced nuclear technology company, has announced a strategic partnership with data center operator Switch. They have signed a framework power purchase agreement to deploy 12 gigawatts of clean energy over the next 20 years. This agreement is touted as one of the largest corporate clean energy deals ever.
The planned power generation is equivalent to the electricity needs of over 9 million American households. Oklo's CEO, Jacob DeWitte, highlighted that the agreement sets a target for large-scale, multi-site power development and deployment. The partnership aims to accelerate Oklo's early power plant deployment and scale up operations.
The company's stock surged nearly 12% following the announcement. Oklo's reactors are smaller than traditional ones, targeting capacities from 15 to 100 megawatts. By 2044, Oklo plans to build 240 reactors of 50 megawatts each to meet the 12 GW target.
