Novo Nordisk, a pharmaceutical giant, has increased its workforce in Denmark by 75% in less than three years, employing around 32,000 people nationwide. This rapid expansion has intensified the local talent war, forcing many small businesses to close or relocate due to their inability to compete. Some manufacturing companies have moved production abroad to address labor shortages. The situation is so severe that even municipal employees have been lured away.

To address the labor shortage, the Danish government has relaxed overseas recruitment restrictions and extended tax incentives for foreign employees. Companies are also offering higher salaries, training, and remote work options to retain talent. The need to attract and retain foreign labor is crucial in the context of low unemployment.
