Google has launched a new version of its Android XR operating system, developed in collaboration with Samsung, aimed at enhancing user experiences in virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). The Android XR OS supports natural interactions through voice, gesture control, and eye tracking, marking a pivotal point in extended reality (XR) technology.
The first device using Android XR, codenamed Project Moohan, is being manufactured by Samsung. It combines features of Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest 3S, offering a lighter, more comfortable design with a wider field of view. Google plans to release the first product next year, with other manufacturers expected to adopt Android XR for their own headsets.
