Google (GOOGL, Financial) shares continue to climb, increasing over 2.5% to $189.92, following a 5.6% rise previously. The surge is driven by the launch of Google's latest quantum chip, "Willow," which boasts two major advancements. Willow significantly reduces errors, addressing a key challenge in quantum error correction that has persisted for nearly 30 years. Additionally, Willow completed a "standard benchmark calculation" in under five minutes. Furthermore, reports indicate that Google has formally requested the U.S. government to terminate Microsoft's exclusive agreement to host OpenAI technology on its cloud servers.
