GameStop (GME, Financial), a popular meme stock, saw its shares rise nearly 6%, with intraday gains exceeding 14%. This surge followed a cryptic tweet from Keith Gill, known for his influence on retail investors. Gill's sporadic tweets have historically sparked interest in meme stocks like GameStop and AMC Entertainment (AMC).
Gill's recent post, his first since September, featured a mysterious image from a 2006 Time magazine cover. Speculation arose that the image's timestamps hinted at targets for AMC and GameStop. AMC shares also rose nearly 6%, closing at $5.20, while GameStop ended at $28.63.
Additionally, Unity Software (U) gained nearly 5% due to its ticker's resemblance to the magazine's theme. Meanwhile, Clear Secure (YOU) fell over 1%.
