Dell Technologies (DELL, Financial) has deployed tens of thousands of GPUs for Elon Musk's supercomputer project in Memphis, supporting AI initiatives. COO Jeff Clarke highlighted the rapid deployment achieved within months, with the cluster still expanding. Musk's startup, xAI, is developing a large facility to enhance its AI tool-building capabilities. xAI plans to expand its Memphis supercomputer to at least one million GPUs, a tenfold increase from the current 100,000.
This year, Dell has seen significant growth due to the demand for high-performance servers equipped with NVIDIA GPUs, essential for AI workloads. Dell's AI server shipments reached $2.9 billion in the quarter ending November 1. As part of the expansion, NVIDIA, Dell, and Super Micro Computer (SMCI) will establish operations in Memphis.
