Carvana Co. (CVNA, Financial), a used car dealership company, has announced plans to transform the ADESA Boston site into an Auction-Inspection and Reconditioning Center (IRC). This move aims to enhance and expand services for both retail and wholesale customers in the region while boosting production capacity. Covering more than 100 acres, the facility will also create about 200 new jobs, including technical and general positions.

The addition of IRC capabilities will increase Carvana's reconditioning capacity, enabling faster delivery of vehicles to retail customers and offering a broader selection for wholesale clients. Retail customers in the area will benefit from a larger inventory, with vehicles available for same-day or next-day delivery. Wholesale customers will experience improved reconditioning operations, facilitated by Carvana's proprietary CARLI software, designed to standardize processes across its network.

Brian Boyd, Carvana's SVP of Inventory, emphasized that the integration of IRC capabilities at ADESA Boston will not only strengthen the company's presence in the region but also improve service delivery for all customers. As ADESA Boston is already a significant wholesale hub, this move allows Carvana to build seamlessly on its existing infrastructure. Despite the company's rapid expansion, establishing Carvana'stions at the site underscores Carvana's commitment to growing efficiently and accompanying its services.
