GameStop (GME, Financial) saw its shares rise nearly 3% in pre-market trading recently, marking a 56% increase this year, with the price reaching $28.14. This uptick follows the news that Vanguard Group, a leading asset management firm, has increased its stake in the company.
According to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Vanguard now holds approximately 37.11 million shares of GameStop, which represents an 8.7% ownership stake. Previously, Vanguard owned about 29.70 million shares, equal to 6.87% of the company, already making it the largest institutional investor in GameStop.
