The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that Tesla (TSLA, Financial) will recall 2,431 units of its 2024 Cybertruck models. The recall addresses a problem with the drive inverter, which could potentially cause the vehicle to lose driving force due to a fault in the metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) components.
This issue affects Cybertruck models produced between November 6, 2023, and July 30, 2024. If the inverter fails to generate torque, drivers would lose the ability to accelerate, increasing the risk of collisions.
Starting from December 9 or soon after, Tesla will offer free replacements of the faulty drive inverters with fully functional components to affected customers. This marks the sixth separate recall for the Cybertruck within this year.
