Australian battery manufacturer Novonix (NVX, Financial) has entered a binding agreement with automaker Stellantis (STLA) to supply high-performance synthetic graphite material for battery manufacturing in North America. Under this agreement, Novonix will deliver at least 86,250 metric tons of synthetic graphite from 2026 to 2031, with a target of up to 115,000 metric tons, from its facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Novonix CEO, Chris Burns, noted that this contract will allocate the remaining available production capacity from their Riverside plant, with some production to occur at their planned new facility. The company is constructing a new production facility in the southeastern United States, initially capable of producing 30,000 metric tons annually, with plans to expand capacity to 75,000 metric tons per year.
