McDonald's has announced that its burgers, recently pulled from menus due to E. coli contamination worries, will be back on sale next week. The company clarified that the beef patties were not the source of contamination; instead, the raw onion slices in the burgers were identified as the likely cause. The affected burgers will now be sold without the suspect raw onions.

The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) pointed to raw onion slices from a single supplier as the potential source of E. coli contamination. McDonald's identified Taylor Farms, a California-based agricultural company, as the supplier of the onions. These onions were produced at a facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado. On October 25, Taylor Farms initiated a voluntary recall of the yellow onions distributed from this factory and is working alongside the FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to investigate the issue further.
