Stellantis is expanding its factory in Saltillo, northern Mexico, to produce the Ram 1500 pickup truck. Satellite images reveal two new buildings, each approximately 0.31 miles long, have been constructed next to the existing plant. It remains uncertain whether this expansion is intended for battery-powered or gasoline-driven Ram trucks.

The company has a history of producing other Ram pickup models in Mexico but has not made any announcements specifically about the Ram 1500 production. This expansion coincides with potential strike actions by the United Auto Workers (UAW) against Stellantis in the U.S., arising from accusations of unfulfilled commitments in their previous six-week strike settlement.

Stellantis recently announced over $235 million investment in its Sterling Heights assembly facility in Michigan to produce future electric pickups. The company continues to manufacture Ram trucks in Michigan, shifting its focus to the Ram 1500 Tradesman after ceasing production of the Ram 1500 Classic, which has led to layoffs of up to 2,450 workers at its Warren Truck Assembly Plant.
