CVS Health (CVS) to Close Core Infusion Services, Explore Pharmacy Sales

Article's Main Image

CVS Health has announced the closure of its core infusion services business and plans to either sell or shut down 29 associated regional pharmacies in the coming months. This move follows the company's cessation of accepting new patients for antibiotics, muscle health medications, and intravenous nutrition services as of October 8.

According to Shelly Bandit, Senior Manager of Corporate Communications, the infusion drug suppliers have been facing tough conditions providing specialized and complex services, which has also impacted Coram, the CVS infusion service. While no layoffs have been officially declared yet, affected employees will receive notices by mid-November and are expected to leave by January.

The company is evaluating options for selling the assets of the pharmacies slated for closure.
