Toyota (TM) Reports 11.2% Decline in August Production Amid Certification Issues and Recalls

Toyota's (TM, Financial) production in August fell by 11.2% year-over-year, marking the seventh consecutive month of decline. The drop was primarily due to certification issues in Japan and recalls in North America that led to production halts.

Data shows that Toyota's August production decreased to 709,571 vehicles, with a 22% decrease in Japan. Globally, Toyota’s sales in August dropped 3.1% year-over-year to 826,863 vehicles, with a 9.1% decrease in Japan.

Year-to-date, Toyota's sales in Japan have fallen 18.2% to approximately 932,000 units, while sales outside Japan have grown 2.4% to around 5.64 million units. In August, Japan's total vehicle exports declined 16.4% to 132,448 units, continuing a four-month streak of year-over-year declines.
