Cornerstone Capital Management LLC is an investment management firm based out of New York City. The company was established in 1993 and was formerly known as Madison Square Investors LLC. Cornerstone Capital Management currently operates as a subsidiary of New York Life Investment Management Holdings LLC. The company has grown from its inception to now operate with 49 employees of which half are investment professionals. Cornerstone Capital Management holds over $12.5 billion in total assets under management spread across 48 total accounts, all of which are discretionary accounts except for one that makes up a minor $25.7 million in assets. Although the company’s total number of accounts has been decreasing in recent years, once having been as high as over 100 total accounts half a decade ago, its total assets under management, despite some volatility, has grown significantly from its $9.4 billion mark back in 2010 to its current amount today. Cornerstone Capital Management conducts its research internally, utilizing fundamental and quantitative methodologies in order to make its investment decisions. The company invests in the growth stocks of small to large cap companies, allocating its assets in public equity markets on a global scale. Cornerstone Capital Management invests most heavily in the information technology sector, which alone makes up over a quarter of its total asset allocations, and also invests in the finance, consumer discretionary, health care, consumer staples, industrials, and real estate sectors, among other sectors to a lesser degree, in order of decreasing amount allocated. The company’s top 10 holdings together make up approximately a fifth of its total holdings, although most of this amount comes from its top holding in Netease Inc. ADR which alone makes up over 10% of its total allocations. Cornerstone Capital Management mainly caters to investment companies and pension and profit sharing plans, which each make up approximately a third of its client base.
