Disney (DIS, Financial) is forming a new team to oversee the company's use of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and mixed reality (MR). The newly established "Office of Technology Enablement" will be led by Jamie Voris, the former technology chief of Disney's film studio. Voris will report to Disney Entertainment's co-chairman, Alan Bergman.
Eddie Drake is set to succeed Voris as the chief technology officer of the film studio. In an internal email, Bergman emphasized the rapid development of AI and extended reality (XR) technologies and their profound impacts on future consumer experiences, creative projects, and Disney's business operations. He highlighted the importance of seizing this exciting opportunity while carefully managing the potential risks associated with these technologies.
The newly formed team is expected to grow to approximately 100 employees, indicating Disney's commitment to leveraging emerging technologies effectively.
